Photoshop Painting

I finally scanned in some images of my Grandma and thought I’d try my hand at some more realistic painting in Photoshop. How realistic can you get in PS? Well, pretty darn realistic. This is still unfinished, but I thought I’d post my progress. I’m thinking maybe I’ll try to see how much I can make it look like an Ingres portrait. I might change the composition a bit. This was just a test. I’m including the photos of her as well. Isn’t she cute!?

Cupcake Party at the Libary

Recently I had a chance to do a demo and reading for Cupcake at the library where my aunt Steph works! We had a great time painting and eating cupcakes! A pretty great day! The kids loved trying out the watercolor and watching the colors bloom and grow when we dropped them on the wet watercolor paper.

I got Tangled for Christmas. Can I just say, “I love this movie!!!” If I were a critic, I would give it 2 thumbs up! I sketched a little bit today. These aren’t the best, but they were fun.

Eyebrows?

If there’s one thing I doodle over and over, it’s Renaissance women. No, I don’t mean women that are great at everything. I mean the stylin’ ladies of the 15th and 16th century. There’s something so lovely about their faces. High foreheads, translucent skin, almost nonexistent eyebrows. Da Vinci women, especially, comes to mind. They are lovely, but they are definitely not today’s standard of beauty. Here’s a quick watercolor doodle I did that turned out very, um, PINK! Can’t help myself lately.
